Smart-chip for Batteries

Lithium-ion batteries need to be charged slowly due to risk of overheating and exploding. This smart chip can be embedded in any battery and assesses the battery health and state of charge. The required charge can then be precisely delivered, avoiding dangers of overheating and explosion and extending battery life and power. A smart-phone could be charged in less than 10 minutes. The chip, which should be available under licence for chip makers and battery manufacturers by the end of 2016, could be used in all electronic devices as well as electric vehicles. Improving battery reduces reliance on fossil fuels.
